One of the challenges we have been aware of is trying to provide beekeeping information resources to people without a local club in their area. We initiated a program, Ask a Washington Beekeeper, in October to help address this issue. WASBA is offering a monthly program on a bee management topic presented by experienced Washington beekeepers using Facebook Live. During the hour and a half program we offer a brief introduction by our president, Alan Woods, who explains the purpose of the program and introduces our speaker(s). They take approximately 45 minutes to present a topic and allow time for Q&A. The program is on the third Thursday of the month starting at 6:30pm and ending at 8pm.
The first program was a presentation about “What Happens Inside the Hive in the Winter” by Bri Price, WSU Honey Bee Program Extension Coordinator, and Jeff Ott, a Master certified beekeeper and host of Beekeeping Today podcast and our second program will be on November 16th . Dawn Beck will talk about the “Winter Bee.” Don’t hesitate to pass the word along to any beekeepers who you think might find this resource helpful.
