Craftsman Beekeeper

The Craftsman level program is for the dedicated beekeeper who wants to continue their education and experience through independent study and sharing their knowledge with beekeepers and members of the public.

Craftsman Certification Requirements/Guidelines:

  1. Be a member of the Washington State Beekeepers Association.
  2. Obtain Journeyman Certification
  3. Have a minimum 6 years experience in beekeeping in addition to the 3 years required to obtain Journeyman status
    (a total of 9 years experience)
  4. Earn Service Points
  5. Complete a Practical Research Project

Upon satisfactory completion of the WASBA Craftsman Beekeeper program and submission of the completed documentation, the student will receive a certificate of completion and a patch acknowledging WASBA Craftsman Beekeeper status.

Service Points

Earning service points ensures that individuals meet WASBA’s goal of being able to communicate knowledgeably with the public and other beekeepers about topics relating to honey bees and beekeeping.

Practical Research Project

A practical research project is required for Craftsman level certification. The subject must be pre-approved by the WASBA Education Committee. It can be on any topic related to honey bees and beekeeping.
