Testing Out

Testing Out Options for Beginning & Apprentice Classes

Testing out requests should be submitted to the WASBA Education Committee Chair who will follow these guidelines:

Testing out of the Beginning Beekeeping Level can be allowed if the following criteria are met by the person making the request: 

  1. Is a member of Washington State Beekeepers Association.
  2. Has a minimum of one year with direct hands-on beekeeping.
  3. Is an active member of a beekeeping club (if possible).
  4. Has a recommendation from an officer of the club or the Instructor of the class (if possible).
  5. Submits a statement about why they wish to test-out.

Upon approval of the request the person will purchase a copy of the Beginning Beekeeping Manual. The Beginning Beekeeping test will be administered and graded by the Instructor. The Instructor will input the students’ records into the WASBA Database. WASBA will print and ship the Beginning Beekeeping certificate.

Testing-out of the Apprentice Beekeeping Level can be allowed if the following criteria are met by the person making the request:

  1. Is a member of Washington State Beekeepers Association.
  2. Has a minimum of three years with direct hands-on beekeeping.
  3. Has demonstrated interest in learning about beekeeping by taking classes from other organizations.
  4. Is an active member of a beekeeping club (if possible).
  5. Has a recommendation from an officer of the club or the Instructor of the class (if possible).
  6. Submits a statement about why they wish to test-out.

Upon approval of the request the person will purchase a copy of the Apprentice Beekeeping Manual. The Apprentice Beekeeping test will be administered and graded by the Instructor. The Instructor will input the students’ records into the WASBA Database. WASBA will print and ship the Apprentice Beekeeping certificate and patch.
