Let’s Stop the Pesticide Industry Proposal

Contact Once More Before the Committee Votes on the Bill

Last Wednesday’s hearing went well, see it here beginning at 31:27. Our concerns were heard by the committee, as mentioned by Rep. Kloba (36:00) Thanks to all who emailed, called, wrote, signed in CON, and testified. Now we have their attention.

Our strong opposition to an apiary location database will cause action by the pesticide industry. They may offer an amendment to “fix” Sec. 3, sub 2a. Such an amendment will be completely one-sided in favor of the pesticide industry.

The committee will vote on the bill this Wednesday the 24th. Please contact them on or before Monday (so they have a chance to read/hear you before Wednesday).Some things you could say: Thank them for hearing beekeepers’ concerns about Sec. 3, sub 2a Outside of that part, it’s a good bill But that part will be very damaging to beekeepers without huge changes Changing sec. 3, sub 2a now without consulting beekeepers won’t address all our concerns and gives pesticide applicators what they want: a backdoor way to avoid consequences of killing bees with pesticides Ask that they remove sec. 3, sub 2a from the bill so the task force can find a better way to protect pollinators for the reasons given in the hearing and many othersInclude 5253 in the subject line of your email.
