Puget Sound Beekeepers has been busy as a bee!
Pollinator Week 2014 was last week and Puget Sound Beekeepers Association is still feeling the buzz – as volunteers were out in full force, sharing the buzz about bees.
The lineup of fun started with six different screenings of the film “More Than Honey” held in and around several Seattle communities, thanks to efforts of www.Meaningfulmovies.org . The screenings drew audiences as large as 60 people and Q&A with PSBA beekeepers and other local bee experts was held after each film.
PSBA was also delighted to support our Field Day Sponsor, Whole Foods Market, in their “Share the Buzz” campaign held in stores on June 21st. PSBA beekeepers and live honey bees (and even some live bumble bees) were onsite at the Interbay and Bellevue stores. Based on the smiling faces in the pictures below – Everyone loved the chance to get their questions answered by our expert beekeepers and to get up close to some live bees in our observation hive.

Maureen Sullivan, PSBA Secretary, spearheaded the planning and execution of PSBA’s Pollinator Week activities. She designed and installed bee-focused displays in collaboration with Whole Foods and the University of Washington Book Store – many thanks to Maureen and all the effort by our member beekeepers for making Pollinator Week activities a success.
