“Helping Honey Bees Thrive” is the title of the 2014 Bayer Bee Care Community Leadership Award, which annually recognizes an individual who has harnessed the power of the honey bee colony to benefit their community. Recipients are selected for developing new approaches to improving the community by leveraging the intrinsic workings of a honey bee colony. Any beekeeper or individual with a focus on honey bees may apply.

Prizes include:

1. $5000 to a qualifying individual that works to improve bee health awareness in his/her community, and

2. An all expense paid trip to the 2014 Bayer National Pollination Week Reception in Washington DC at the US Botanical Gardens on June 17th, where the winner will be formally recognized.

Entries are evaluated by a panel of judges including a media outlet, professor of entomology at a state university, a representative from a special interest group that supports beekeeping and a member of the Bayer Bee Care Team.
